Snake man appears in court

FOR threatening to use supernatural powers on police officers who killed his snake, Urgent Ncube was dragged before Plumtree magistrate Gideon Ruvetsa.

Ncube was convicted on his plea of guilty to threatening to assault as defined in section 89 (1) (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

In mitigation Ncube told the magistrate that his threats were out of anger. He heaved a sigh of relief when he was cautioned and discharged.

For the State Jane Phiri told the court that on 28 February at around 4pm at ZRP Madlambudzi, Ncube visited the police camp on the pretext that he wanted to pay a fine for his brother Tafara Ncube who had been arrested for disorderly conduct.

Upon his arrival, he entered the charge office and found Constable Sphiwe Bhebhe and Munyaradzi Chirongoma on duty.

It is reported that for no apparent reason he started shouting at them on top of his voice saying he was going to a�?fixa�? them for killing a snake which he had sent for a special mission at the police camp.

He said: . a�?Yini elabulala inyoka eyabonakala khonapha enkambeni lokhu ngokuncane kwakhona, khonangizathumela indwangu lokunye okungakaze kubonakale khonapha enkambeni,a�? literally meaning:A� a�?You are the ones who killed a snake which was seen here at the camp. This is just a small thing I will send a baboon and something which has never been seen before here at the camp.a�?

Ncube also accused the two police officers of not assisting him recover his money from a businessman operating at Madlambudzi Business Centre.

Following his threats he was immediately arrested and taken to court.
