BULAWAYO-based gospel musician Snowy is set to make his debut live performance at the National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) taking place in Harare on February 28.
The 24th edition of the awards, running under the theme “Fearless Creativity”, promises a vibrant celebration of Zimbabwe’s artistic excellence, blending seasoned icons with emerging talent.
Nominees were unveiled last Thursday. For Snowy, the opportunity marks a major milestone.
“I haven’t had the opportunity to perform at a Nama event before. However, being associated with such a prestigious national platform is truly an honour. Nama represents excellence in Zimbabwean arts, so even being considered or involved in any capacity is something I deeply appreciate,” he said.
He added that representing Matabeleland on a national stage carries special significance.
“It’s a great honour and a huge responsibility as representing Matabeleland on a national stage means a lot to me. It shows that our region has incredible talent that deserves visibility and celebration.”
Snowy believes the recognition reflects years of dedication.
“For my brand, it means growth, recognition, and positioning at a national level. It also reinforces the vision I carry to represent Christ, excellence and authenticity wherever I go.
“I see it as doors opening not just for me, but for many other young artistes from Matabeleland who are watching and believing.”
The gospel musician revealed that fans can expect new projects soon.
“I’m working on new music and expanding my ministry beyond the stage through writing, collaborations and impactful initiatives that inspire young people to pursue their God-given vision,” said Snowy. – Follow on X @mthabisi_mthire
