Sobukhazi wins the Under 17 netball competitions

SOBUKHAZI High School Under-17 netball team emerged victorious at the Inter-District Championships, which were held at St Columba’s on Friday.

Twelve school teams participated in the competition.

Sobukhazi and Entumbane, who were first and second qualified for the provincial tournament, which will be held at Ihlathi High School.

Entumbane High School won all their games in Pool B, beating Cowdray Park 13-12, Montgomery 34-0, Mzilikazi 28-4 and Prestige 23-5.

On the other end Sobukhazi topped its group as they went unbeaten in the round-robin segment of the competition. They won 25-1 against St Columba’s, 30-1 against V Mhlophe, 26-2 over Luveve and Emakhandeni 22-4.

In the semi-finals Sobukhazi defeated St Columba’s with a score line of 21-0 and they suffered a 27-7 loss to Sobukhazi in the finals.

 They advanced to semi-finals where they beat Cowdray Park, who were the runners-up for Pool B 27-3.

In the final, they beat Entumbane 27-7.

Chris Ndlovu the head coach of Sobukhazi was impressed with the way the girls played.

“We applaud the Girl Child for their hard work, we will soon start the preparations for the provincial competitions and we are hoping for a win,” said Ndlovu.
