“Mafia”, as Ndebele is fondly called in music circles, backed by his group Denda Brothers, entertained about 150 fans that braved the chilly night.
The gifted singer churned out hits from his albums like “Makobvu Nematete”, “Marwadzo Mukurarama”, “Nditungamirirei” and “Shara” to which fans sang along.
Those who recall his days as a close buddy to the late musician Tongai Moyo were taken down memory lane when the duo dominated charts with their duet, “Moyo Wekurera” which Soma played with touching verve.
Mafia also sampled new songs from his latest album “Ndipei Nguva”.
Although the album was launched in Harare early last year, people in Chirundu were not familiar with it.
In an interview after the show Mafia said it was his first time to perform in the town after almost six years.
“This was a long-awaited chance for my fans to see me in action, sampling some of my new songs,” he said.
Regarding HIV and Aids, Mafia urged fans to use condoms and or stick to one faithful sexual partner. Chirundu is Zimbabwe’s second busiest border post and has become infamous for high levels of prostitution.
