SOMEONE AFTER BIO’S CROWN

Lovemore Chazingwa

SUNGURA musician, Trust Dube, says he wants to surpass the heights reached by Bio Mudimba of Kujatajata fame.

They both hail from Binga.

Dube said this when he launched his third album titled Bumi Ndivili at Happy Valley Tavern in Bulawayo recently.

Mudimba hit headlines with his 2021 smash hit song Kujatajata, which put Binga musicians into the spotlight.

The song wrestled the number one spot from strong contenders on most local charts owing to its popularity among music lovers.

Now, Dube wants to ride on that spur in charting his path.

“I get a lot of inspiration from the way my brother Bio has travelled on the music scene.

“He was previously on the edge before dropping the hit song Kujatajata.

“That single has done wonders for him, at the same time, impacted us as a community and artists greatly.

“I want to reward him by doing greater things for our home.

“Maybe, even surpass that level as a good student.

“If I manage to drop a hit song, it will be a special dedication to him as a trailblazer from our community.”

His album, whose title means ‘The Cycle That Life Is,’ comes pregnant with social commentary.

He mixes Tonga and Ndebele.
