Ndaba, who plays bubbly Queen Moroka on the soapie and is also a wedding planner, says she fired Legodi for, among others, offending a client by allegedly meeting the client in a hotel room while dressed inappropriately.
Legodi also ruffled Ndaba’s feathers when she allegedly left her stranded after a wedding in Jane Furse, Limpopo, last year. But the last straw was when, according to Ndaba, she discovered that Legodi was running a rival event management company.
Legodi is now accusing Ndaba of fraud and unfair dismissal and is demanding almost R80 000 from the legendary actress. Legodi’s lawyers this week wrote to Ndaba’s company, Sophla Trading, demanding the money they say is owed to the axed PA.
“I’m suing because she doesn’t want to pay me my money and I have also taken her to CCMA for unfair dismissal,” Legodi says.
But Ndaba dismisses the claims. “I told her that my tax consultant and accountant are busy working on the matter and will pay her as soon as they are done. Instead of waiting patiently she threatened to take me to the media,” Ndaba says.
The actress says her problems with Legodi started last year when they were planning for a wedding in Durban.
“The client enquired about something from me and I referred him to her for assistance. Because we use our hotel rooms as offices when we are away from Jo’burg, she invited him to her hotel room so she could help him.
“Later the client complained to me that Rose was not properly covered when he arrived in the hotel room for the meeting. Apparently, she was only wearing a towel which did not fully cover her body,” she says.
Ndaba says she reprimanded Legodi. About the other “transgression”, Ndaba says Legodi drove off leaving her stranded after a wedding in Limpopo.
“The following day we held a meeting with her. When I asked her why she did that, she told me that she hated attending events.
“I told her that I paid her R16 000, double what she was earning where she was working previously so she could attend events with me because she was my personal assistant. But she insisted that she didn’t like events,” she says. Ndaba confirmed she has received a call from the CCMA about the matter.
“I will defend myself,” she says. — Sunday World.
Ndaba says she decided to transfer Legodi to work at her foundation.
“That process was still unfolding when I discovered that she was running an events company using my computer.
“That is a conflict of interest. I asked her about it and she told me that it was her friend’s company though it was registered in her name. I fired her with immediate effect.”
