FAST rising Hobhouse-based dancehall musician Soul Jah Tee, who boasts of more than 20 songs in his career, has unleashed a single track titled Tirikuchema following the disastrous floods that claimed the life of a six-year-old girl in Zimta Park late last year.
Thembani Matika’s lifeless body was found the following morning floating along Sakubva River while her two siblings Christine (20) and Mildred (16) escaped death by a whisker after the house they were sleeping in was swept away.
The floods also displaced over six families after 150 other houses were swept away.
In the song, Soul Jah Tee, real name Tatenda Mupoga, urges people to pray hard and pin their hopes and faith on God in the wake of adversity.
He sings: “Hama neshamwari dzaparadzwa nemvura nemheni, guta rese nhasi ngatiungane tinamate. Zvepasirino zvinorwadza, Mwari ndimi mune rudo musatisiye tichitambura.”
Mupoga, a former Attraction Clan member, said he was touched by the way Thembani departed the world.
“It’s sad. It’s painful. She had a bright future. But there is nothing we can do about it except asking God to console us. We as musicians are affected by these incidences and it is our duty to soothe hearts of the bereaved and everyone else who was directly and indirectly affected,” he said.
The song was produced by Leeman.
Soul Jah Tee’s previous works include Handina godo (Bodyslam riddim), Vanoshora, Mugumo vangu, Ngatitsvage mari and Mughetto mangoma.
