Spar Group donates to First Lady’s charity

Farirai Machivenyika, Harare Bureau

The Spar Group yesterday donated 50 scholarships to First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa’s charity, Angel of Hope Foundation, to benefit disadvantaged children of her choice.

The donation was made at Ashbrittle Shopping Centre in Mt Pleasant, Harare, by the company’s human resources director Mr Moses Chihuri after the clean-up exercise that was led by President Mnangagwa.

Mr Chihuri told the President that the donation was in recognition of the charity work the First Lady was doing.

“Your Excellency, the First Lady has done a lot of good work to assist vulnerable groups, especially children and in recognition of that good work, we are donating 50 scholarships to the First Lady’s charity that will assist the children until they complete their education and she will choose the beneficiaries,” Mr Chihuri said.

He said the value of the scholarships was dependant on the level that the beneficiaries would reach.

The First Lady, through her Angel of Hope Foundation, is assisting several vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in various communities across the country.

Amai Mnangagwa has also assisted women groups to set up income generating projects.

Some of the projects include soap making, candle making, juice making, baking, handbags and detergents making.

Angel of Hope Foundation is now manufacturing reusable sanitary wear, in a development expected to ease the plight of underprivileged girls.
