magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma charged with two counts of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer.
Ms Tshuma granted Mushonga US$200 bail and remanded him out of custody to March 14.
As part of his bail conditions, Mushonga was ordered to surrender his passport, to report once a week at the Anti-Corruption Commission offices.
He is also required not to interfere with witnesses and not to visit his work place.
Prosecutor Mr David Magwegwe alleged that on August 18 last year, Mushonga acting in connivance with his accomplices corruptly awarded a tender to Peace Security (Pvt) Ltd an
undeserving security company under ZETDC tender number 01/2011 for the purposes of security services.
The security firm had been disqualified and rejected by ZEDTC tender adjudication committee for failure to meet specific requirements.
By doing so, it is alleged, Mushonga prejudiced ZEDTC of quality service and the three successful bidders that were selected.
On the second count, it is alleged that sometime in July 2009, Mushonga and his accomplices corruptly awarded tenders to three undeserving security firms namely Brising, Peace and Kadison Security (Pvt) Ltd under Tel-One tender number 9780/2009.
All the bidders including the three selected companies had been disqualified and rejected by Tel-One tender adjudication committee for failure to meet the needed requirements.
Officials at the board discovered the offence and reported the matter to the police leading to Mushonga’s arrest.
