The event saw Selby Mukucha scooping two medals for Athlete of the Year and Most Loyal Athlete while Ruvimbo Musere won the Female Athlete of the Year award.
Makucha could not hide his pleasure in winning the awards.
“I am very happy to win these accolades and I hope to continue working hard to achieve more in my career.
“I think I will do well and I thank SLAC for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent at the biggest level.
“To my coaches I say keep on doing the good work,” Mukucha said.
Wellington Zingwe, the club director, was happy with the progress they have made so far as a club and believes they have an opportunity to unearth world class athletes.
“The club has the potential of producing world class athletes as evidenced by the achievements of some members of the club who won several medals in regional competitions held within the Sadc region.
“In Zimbabwe we have athletes with great passion for athletics and the kids are so talented such that given the necessary support a world champion from this country is very possible.
“The athletes need expert coaching to develop into good citizens through participation in sports at international levels.
“Our club would like to thank Churchill for their support, we have no facilities but they allow us to use their fields.”
SLAC was established in 1994 under Stan Madiri as Speed Dynamic.
The club was revived in 2005 and registered in 2007 under Zingwi as club director and head coach, with the approval of Madiri, who relocated to UK.
