IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAKE TUGWI-MUKOSI COMBINATION MASTER PLAN
Following the development of the Lake Tugwi-Mukosi Combination Masterplan by the Honourable Vice President, General (Rtd) Dr CGDN Chiwenga in his capacity as chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Food Security and Nutrition, and in view of the growing interest from a number of investors to commence major economic activities and investments around the lake, Cabinet directed that the implementation of the afore-mentioned masterplan be expedited under the Chairmanship of the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Food Security and Nutrition, in order for the project to gain the necessary traction. This is also because most issues relate to land, water, fisheries and related developments.
UPDATE ON PREPARATIONS FOR HOSTING THE EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF SADC HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT
Cabinet received an update report on preparations for the hosting the Extraordinary meeting of SADC Heads of State and Government which was presented by Vice President Chiwenga.
The Extraordinary Summit is running from November 16-20, has commenced with meetings of senior officials of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ on Politics and Ministerial Committee of the Organ. The Heads of State and Government from the participating countries have already confirmed attendance of the regional event.
Preparations for the hosting summit are on course.
REPORT ON HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT’S ATTENDANCE AT THE INAUGURATION OF DUMA BOKO BOTSWANA PRESIDENT-ELECT
Cabinet received and noted a report on His Excellency the President Mnangagwa’s State attendance at the inauguration ceremony of the President of Botswana, His Excellency Mr. Duma Gideon Boko, which was held at the Gaborone Stadium, on November 8 2024, as presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Prof Amon Murwira.
The event was attended by three Heads of State and Governments from the Republics of Namibia; Zambia; and Zimbabwe; while the Republics of Kenya; South Africa; and the Kingdom of Eswatini were represented at vice president and prime minister levels.
The presence of Zimbabwe at this important event in the history of Botswana exhibited the strong ties that exist between the two countries.
This was also an opportunity for Zimbabwe to show solidarity with the people of Botswana. This will build a positive trajectory in terms of cooperation between the two countries.
