Sports Commission holds workshop for NSAs

THE Sports Commission are hosting a one-day workshop with technical directors of various sporting codes in Harare in a bid to improve technical effectiveness of the associations.

Most of the associations are represented and the participants include ZIFA, which is represented by its technical director, Wilson Mutekede.

Also attending the workshop is Zimbabwe Rugby Union’s Derek Chiwara, Triathlon Zimbabwe’s Pamela Fulton, Zimbabwe Handball Federation’s Farai Gwisai and Mercy Chatyoka from Zimbabwe Volleyball Association, to mention just a few.

The facilitators will make presentations of various subjects. The Sports Commission’s acting director-general Sebastian Garikai, is among the facilitators and is addressing on talent identification and development.

National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe director Lisimati Phakamile will speak on athletes and coaches’ development platforms. He will present a case study of NAAZ.

Sports Commission’s Martin Dururu will facilitate on-podium performance programme while SRC board member and Aces Youth Soccer Academy director Nigel Munyati will talk on talent identification as a critical tool for national sport development.

Footballers Union of Zimbabwe will address athletes and coaches’ management and life after sporting career with a particular case study of their organisation.
