THE Zanu-PF leadership in Masvingo says the stage is almost set for the forthcoming Annual National People’s Conference with the refurbishment of Mucheke clinic into a state of the art health facility having started.

In an interview, acting Zanu PF provincial chairman Cde Amasa Nhenjana said there is remarkable progress at the venue of the conference – Masvingo Show grounds.

The conference will be held from December 13 to 17 under the theme, “Moving with Zim-Asset in Peace and Unity”.

About 6 000 delegates including some from the United Kingdom (UK), South Africa and United States are expected to attend the conference.

“We are almost there in terms of preparations. We have increased the number of beds and now we are above 7 000 after we were informed that more delegates from outside the country are coming. We have also started the refurbishment of Mucheke Clinic into a state of the art health facility.

“The boreholes have been increased to four after two more were rehabilitated owing to the dwindling water levels in the main supply dam, Lake Mutirikwi,” said Cde Nhenjana.

He said more than 50 buses and several lorries have been mobilised to ferry Masvingo delegates from the districts to the conference venue.

“We have mobilised more than 50 buses to ferry delegates to and from the venue. We assure all delegates that they will be transported back to their respective districts. We have also been assured of fuel for all vehicles to be used during and after the conference,” Cde Nhenjana said.

“I can also confirm that the state of the art toilet which is under construction at the venue is almost complete and it will be handed over to Masvingo City Council after the conference.

Masvingo will not be the same again as we are giving the ancient city a new look through renovations of infrastructure that includes roads, clinics and some buildings.”

Masvingo is hosting this year’s conference after successfully hosting President Mugabe’s 92nd birthday bash at the Great Zimbabwe monuments where more than 50 000 people attended
