Stalker in court for impregnating pupil (14)

Chronicle Reporter
THE 61-year-old man from Southwold suburb in Bulawayo who has been accused by residents of proposing love to primary school pupils has appeared in court facing two counts of raping a 14-year-old girl who is now pregnant. Lovemore Muchayiri was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Crispen Mberewere on Tuesday.
He was remanded to 25 June on $200 bail.

The prosecutor, Mr Malvern Nzombe, said Muchayiri met the complainant who is in Form One at a local school, sometime in April along Pitbrook Road in Southwold and gave her a lift in his car.

He said Muchayiri drove to a bush in Newton West suburb where he dragged the girl out of the vehicle and raped her.
He allegedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

On the second count, the court was told Muchayiri met the girl on her way from school and started proposing love to her.
She allegedly turned down his advances saying he was too old which did not go down well with him.

He allegedly walked behind her and when they got to the bush, he closed her mouth from behind, dragged her off a footpath they were using and raped her again.

Muchayiri allegedly threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to anyone.
Muchayiri is alleged to have met the complainant on a number of occasions after that and gave her money ranging between $1 and $5.

However, the issue came to light after the girl started vomiting prompting the mother to conduct a pregnancy test which confirmed she was pregnant.

On being questioned, the girl implicated Muchayiri, leading to the family delegating her aunt to approach him.
Muchayiri allegedly met the family in Rangemore suburb and pledged to pay to ensure the girl was not disturbed in her school work.

Mr Nzombe said Muchayiri gave $50 to the family for another pregnancy and HIV test.
Muchayiri allegedly went to the police and reported that the family was trying to extort money from him and when the mother was taken to Donnington Police Station, she reported the issue, leading to his arrest.
