“I am obviously excited about this because it is an amazing opportunity for my career. I feel humbled that people see potential in my music and have gone to the extent of investing money in it,” she said.
Machiridza perfomed with a Germany-based group Jamaram at last year’s Hifa. The group that had been brought into the country by the Zimbabwe German Society, in turn, invited her together with Prayer Soul and Tariro neGitare to tour 19 cities in the country.
“We are going to have 19 shows in 19 cities that include Berlin, Munich, Hannover and Frankfurt among others. I feel that I will come back a better artiste because I plan to grasp as much as I can musically from other artistes,” she said.
Machiridza added that she was humbled by being chosen among other seasoned artistes even though she only has singles and is yet to release an album.
“I have plans to release my debut album titled ‘Money or Love’ in Germany as it is an opportunity to break into new markets. I have spoken to some people who are willing to help me do collaborations and videos to some of the songs that are impressive,” she said.
Speaking on her upcoming album, the mbira fusion artiste explained the motivation to the “Money or Love” album stressing her concern about how the society is being led astray by the love of money.
She spoke of issues of how parents are putting pressure on the girl child to bring son-in-laws that are well off monetarily. Other songs that she predicted to be hits on the album included “Njiva” that denounces child abuse and “Deliver Me”.
“I am taking this opportunity as a platform to represent my country, its culture and music well for all the three weeks that I am going to be in Europe,” she said.
This is Machiridza’s second European tour. Last year during Star Brite, she went to Sweden after winning Music Crossroads International with Savanna Afros.
