Starbill hopeful of turning the corner

Ellina Mhlanga Sports Reporter
STARBILL manager, Kudakwashe Mugari, feels they will bounce back to winning ways today when they host Bindura United at Rufaro in a World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league encounter.Starbill appointed Patson Muzavazi in August to take over from Lloyd Chitembwe hoping to turn the club’s fortunes but this has not yielded results for the side.

They have continued to drop points since his arrival and they are now in the relegation zone.

They are just four places from the bottom.

However, yesterday, Mugari said it was just a minor setback that will pass and they were geared up for today’s game.

“I think preparations have been going on well, we are ready for Bindura. Even though results have not been coming, tomorrow we are going to collect maximum points.

“I think the problem is every team goes through a dry spell, we have been going through a dry spell but it’s a minor setback. I think we are going to win,” Mugari said.

Mugari, who is also the club’s secretary, said although they have been going through a rough patch they have been working with their players to ensure they remain confident in all situations.

“The guys are up for the game, we have been psyching them up.  Half of our players are experienced players so they have been helping us to manage the young players. The dry spell has not demoralised our players,” said Mugari.

While Starbill appears to have been focusing on today’s game their opponents, Bindura United had their attention divided after their assistant coach, Zacks Kataya, tendered in his resignation letter on Thursday.

Before Kataya’s resignation, some of their players had chosen not to turn up for their last two games but they have since joined the rest of the team ahead of today’s game.

Bindura coach John Wilo said Kataya’s resignation will have a negative impact on the team but they will soldier on.
