Prosecutor Mr David Magwegwe told presiding magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma that the State was withdrawing the charges before plea due to lack of evidence.
The case will, however, proceed by way of summons should the State find substantial evidence to prosecute Chipare.
“Charges before you have been withdrawn before plea at the instance of the State,” Ms Tshuma said.
It was alleged that Chipare raped a friend’s daughter he was entrusted with as punishment for playing loud music.
The girl’s parents had asked Chipare to accommodate her while she studied at a Harare college.
It is further alleged that on several occasions between March and December last year, Chipare subjected the girl to sexual abuse each time he caught her misbehaving.
He would threaten to report her misdemeanours to her parents if she refused to be intimate with him.
Allegations are that on December 9, Chipare assaulted the girl accusing her of damaging speakers and playing loud music.
