A 14-year-old girl was repeatedly raped by two men – her step father and her step father’s brother – from May.
The stepfather, Covenant Kahondera, and his brother Kudakwashe Kahondera, are alleged to have taken turns to rape the teenage girl whenever her mother was away.
On May 15, at around 1600 hours, the girl was sent by her mother, aged 34, to collect a gas stove plate from Ngonidzashe’s house in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza.
Upon arrival, the girl found Ngonidzashe alone at home and he ordered her to collect the gas stove in the house, followed and raped her once without protection.
The girl did not disclose the matter to anyone.
On August 4, her mother visited Chigovanyika Shopping Centre and Covenant took advantage, locked the room and raped her three times, without protection.
The girl was threatened with death if she was to report the matter to anyone.
The matter came to light on Monday, when her mother’s co-tenant informed her that she had seen her daughter spend a considerable time with Kudakwashe in the bedroom.
She questioned her daughter who then revealed that she was raped by Covenant and Kudakwashe.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Covenant and Kudakwashe.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving a step father and his wife’s daughter in Chitungwiza.
“The step father and his brother were reported to have been raping the girl, aged 14, and the accused are yet to be arrested,” said Insp Chakanza.
