TOP professional golfer Steven Ferreira was crowned the 2025 National Aids Council Pro-Am champion at Royal Harare yesterday.
Ferreira, who has been participating in some tournaments in South Africa, was outstanding after he carded an overall eight-under-par to win the competition, which began on Tuesday.
The NAC Pro-Am, which concludes with the Pro-Am today, saw over 60 professional golfers, including eight foreigners, taking to the field for the opening three rounds.
Ferreira managed rounds of 68, 73 and 67 for a total 208, to beat Ben Follet-Smith into second place.
Follet-Smith, fresh from making the cut in the 2025 edition of the Joburg Open at Houghton Golf Club last weekend, returned home to card rounds of 72, 69 and 68 for a total seven-under 209.
With over US$10 000 purse money, the local professionals had something to smile about with their first tournament of the season.
Former Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association president, Gary Thompson, finished in third place, tied with Robson Chinhoi.
Thompson had rounds of 74, 71 and 67, and Chinhoi carded 69, 71 and 72, for a total 212.
Stuart Krog and Promise Sumbreiro completed the top five as Nyasha Muyambo and Zambian Dayne Moore were tied on seventh place.
Bradley Kulaisi was on position nine.
Position ten was a four-way tie composing Ryan Cairns, Visitor Mapwanya, Shaahid Mahmed and Pride Sembo who all finished on one-over-par.
