WHAT was meant to be a game of pool turned nasty when a man from Gimboki in Dangamvura hit his opponent with a stone on the head for winning a bet against him.

The incident happened at Villa Spot Nite Club in Area 13.

Matthew Kaugare (30) is alleged to have struck Forman Mataya (30) on the head with a brick and head-butted him on his lower lip for winning a bet.

Kaugare, however, denied the charges when he appeared before Mr Poterai Gwezhira facing assault charges.

Public prosecutor, Mr Brian Goto told the court on January 24 at around 8:30pm the accused and complaint were playing pool with $200 at stake.

Mataya won the match, but Kaugare refused to hand over the money. He became violent.

The accused head-butted the complainant on the lower lip and struck him on the head with a stone.

The case goes for trial on February 8.
