The West is now trying to block the Iranian pro­gramme of developing nuclear to generate electric­ity.
The fear is that Iran may end up developing a nuclear bomb instead.
Their fear is so hypocritical since the same countries which are trying to block Iran from develop­ing atomic energy for electricity have stockpiles of nuclear weapons.
Well, the West is afraid of Iran developing nuclear weapons, but why is it that the West is not voicing any concern on Israel which pos­sesses nuclear weapons.
Israel is believed to be the sixth country in the world to develop and possess nuclear weapons.
Besides the issue of Israel possessing nuclear weapon, the country has been killing Palestinians at will and the West is silent on that. Human rights abuses by that coun­try happen on a daily basis as chil­dren and women see their loved ones lose their lives at the hands of the brutal Israeli military.
Israel and Iran are at loggerheads, with recent state­ments from both sides showing that the war may hap­pen at any time, but instead of the West trying to pre­vent such a deadly war if it is ever going to hap­pen, they are busy imposing sanc­tions on Iran.
Sanctions imposed on Iran are meant to make it abandon its civil­ian nuclear development. One thing surprising is that the same Western countries are failing to force Israel to dispose nuclear weapons.
It should be realised that nuclear weapons are deadly no matter who possesses them. They should be deto­nated by those who claim to be superpowers so that the world remains nuclear-free.
Recently, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister called for a distinct “red line” to be drawn on Iran’s nuclear programmes and declared that it should be put in place so that when Iran crosses it there would be military interven­tion. He claims that Iran would be soon completing the development of a nuclear weapon and the Middle East would not be safe once Iran gets nuclear weapons.
Netanyahu’s comments were meant to force the West, particularly the US, to take stern action against Iran.
He wants the US to declare war on Iran as a measure for that country to stop nuclear activities which Iran is saying is meant for electricity generation.
Surprisingly, Israel is worried about Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, but the same country has nuclear warheads which it is not willing to dispose.
Israel started making a nuclear bomb as far back as 1967 and has since rejected efforts by other countries to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which was signed in 1968 and became effective in 1970.
The treaty which was signed by nuclear possessing countries sought to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and technology as well as to promote co-oper­ation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to fur­ther the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament.
Today the same Israel and the Western countries are up in arms against Iran which is trying to make use of nuclear to generate electricity. Countries like the US which are fronting Israel to block Iran’s nuclear pro­grammes have nuclear weapons.
If the truth is to be said, the US is the one which needs to detonate its entire nuclear arsenal because it was and still the only country in the world which bru­tally murdered innocent civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, both cities in Japan using nuclear bombs at the height of the Second World War.
One wonders why Western countries are not con­cerned with Pakistan, India, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other developing countries which possess nuclear weapons, but are focusing more on Iran.
The United States which is also on the forefront of denouncing Iran’s nuclear programmes once provided nuclear weapons to Belgium, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and Turkey. So if the super powers like the US could provide nuclear weapons to those countries with no capability to develop nuclear weapons then what is the farce if Iran could keep on developing nuclear power for electricity?
Everyone knows that nuclear weapons are deadly and should not be used to settle any conflict so why is it that some countries like the US, Israel, France, United King­dom and some others still possess nuclear weapons these days? Lessons should be drawn from what hap­pened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 when the US mercilessly dropped nuclear bombs on those defense­less people.
As I write this article Syria is burning as the rebels funded by the Western countries are calling for presi­dent Bashar al-Assad’s head and the US is allegedly aid­ing the rebels in that country.
America wants the Middle East to be under its con­trol as such, Assad like the Iranian leader, Mahmoud Ahmadnejad is seen as a rowdy leader who deserves to be removed from power. Iran’s nuclear programme is not the real issue, but the truth is that Ahmadnejad is not wanted by the United States, the same with what the George W Bush did to the late Saddam Hussein of Iraq.
