Stop the rot at VID

corruption2

Editor — There is a VID official at the Eastlea Depot who owns a driving school in Harare and he is using instructors at his driving school to collect bribes from people seeking to get driver’s licences.
I understand this man is not the only one involved in such shenanigans.

This sickening practice is very common all over the country and it’s sad that as a country we have institutionalised corruption to such an extent.

No one ever has to pay anything more than the amounts stipulated by authorities to get a driver’s licence, but for years now, driving school instructors are being used by VID officials to collect ridiculous amounts such as $200 from learner-drivers so they can allow them to pass.

The cartel appears to be large and well networked that if one attempts to report such a matter to a VID superior, chances are that he or she is also involved in the corruption.

Our President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been on record saying the Second Republic will not tolerate corruption, so I call out on the new Minister of Transport, Honourable Matiza, to look into this matter.

This has to stop.

Gushungo,

Kuwadzana.
