Storm leaves trail of destruction in Mutare

 Post Reporters —
A HEAVY storm that swept across the province last Sunday evening left a trail of destruction after ripping off roofs, swept away foot bridges and heavily damaged the pothole littered roads.

Among the most damaged property is the three-storey Zimbabwe National Water Authority provincial offices along Park Road which had part of its roof blown off.

When The Manica Post visited the offices on Wednesday, broken bricks were strewn all over the place, while employees were busy carrying stuff from the top floor offices which were worst affected by the thunderstorm.

Besides the ZINWA building, most parts of the Mutare urban especially areas close to Sakubva River were badly affected by the torrential rain.

A visit to Dangamvura and Sakubva showed that the river burst its banks and swept away foot bridges as well as a thriving maize crop.
