STORMS have wreaked havoc in Bulilima District following severe weather earlier this year.
On 15 January 2025, at around 4 PM, strong winds and heavy rains ripped off the roofs of three classroom blocks at Kandana Primary School.

On the same day, Huwana ward experienced relentless overnight rainfall, causing flooding in Ntambana village, where the Huwana and Manzamnyama rivers meet.
The rising water levels engulfed eleven homesteads within 150 metres of the Manzamnyama riverbank, with floodwaters reaching above knee height.
With the rainy season in full force, villagers remain on high alert, fearing more infrastructure damage and further dam breaches.
