QUEENSDALE residents in Bulawayo last week experienced severe winds that left several houses destroyed.
Strong winds accompanied by showers tore up several houses, uprooting trees and felling telephone poles in the process.
When a B-Metro news crew visited the area, residents could be seen on top of their houses repairing them.
Reginald Tshuma, a resident whose roof was destroyed said it was his first time to experience such.
a?The winds were so wild that they tore half of my roof and tossed it to the far end of the yard. If it wasnat for a tree at the end of the yard, the roof could have been tossed on top of my neighbouras house,a? he said.
Another resident, identified as Tshuma feared the worst was yet to happen.
a?We have heard there would be changes in weather patterns,a? he said.
The residents donat know where to turn to because they have never experienced such a disaster. None of those interviewed had home insurance.
a?We donat know who to approach for assistance in this case. We are caught in a dilemma but luckily there were no casualties. Itas going to be difficult for us because the rains are getting stronger while we battle to fix our houses,a? added Tshuma. .
