A ZIMBABWEAN student, whose world changed dramatically when she was involved in an accident in Zambia, is seeking assistance to raise US$10 000 for a brachial plexus surgery in India before December.
A brachial plexus surgery uses micro surgery techniques to repair injured muscles and tendons or replace damaged nerves and restore sensation and movement in the arm, elbow, wrist and hand.
Chiedza Mashindi (26), was involved in car accident in January while on her way to Lusaka from Kabwe to buy stationery.
Chiedza was doing an MBA at Mulungishi University and was forced to abandon her studies due to the injuries.
She can barely recall the details of the incident, but said the surgery had to be done within six months from the day of the accident.
However, she hasn’t been able to have it due to lack of funds.
Her family paid for all the six operations she has had since the accident and they can’t raise a further US$10 000.
Failure to conduct the surgery, within the stipulated time, could result in Chiedza losing her arm.
“I am seeking help from anyone because if I don’t get it done by December, it can no longer be performed.
