WITH the winter wheat cropping season already in full swing, villagers in Ward 12 of Nyamaropa in Nyanga District have applauded the Government for availing adequate inputs in time and are looking forward to a successful season and good harvest.
Ward 12 is home to Nyamaropa Irrigation Scheme and has become the farming hub and breadbasket of the district.
The ward’s councillor, Councillor Anna Manimanzi, said the timeous provision of sufficient inputs will go a long way in helping farmers increase productivity, thereby improving the people’s livelihoods as well as ensuring food self-sufficiency.
She also commended Agribank for opening bank accounts for farmers, saying this offers them convenience in business transactions and also minimises losses due to dealing with unscrupulous buyers of their produce.
