The company has been importing sugar from neighbouring South Africa, arguing that the commodity produced in the country is inferior.
Currently, a 300ml bottle of the Delta soft drinks brand costs US$0,50.
Delta chief executive officer Joe Mutizwa said prices of soft drinks would remain unchanged.
“Prices will not go up as Delta has been importing sugar since the adoption of multiple currencies,” he said.
Earlier this month, Delta installed a new US$13 million returnable glass bottling line at its Graniteside plant. This would see production swelling to 600 000 hectolitres per annum.
The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed firm intends to spend an estimated US$213 million on financing key capital projects.
Delta is also in the process of installing a mahewu bottling line. – New Ziana.
