The Summit of the Future represents a critical opportunity for global leaders to address pressing challenges facing the world and renew commitment to multilateralism, UN Resident and Humanitarian coordinator Mr Edward Kallon has said.
The summit, which is slated for September 22 to 23 in New York, is an opportunity for member states to engage and take stock of promises made in the past guided by the Sustainable Development Goals.
Addressing Journalists in Harare on Wednesday, Mr Kallon said the upcoming summit will be a platform to advocate for financial support and technical assistance to address natural and man-made crisis.
“The Summit offers an opportunity for Zimbabwe to align its priorities with the key themes of the Pact for the Future.
“Leveraging the Summit’s focus on sustainable development, we can push for global commitments that support climate adaptation and resilience-building in Zimbabwe.
“This includes initiatives to improve agricultural practices, water management, and disaster preparedness,” he said.
