Sunday Buzz: ‘Casanova’ charged with bigamy

A BULAWAYO man who thought he could play “Casanova” by wedding another woman while he was still customarily married to another was recently humiliated in a packed court room, where he was charged with bigamy.

The man who resides in Pumula suburb was not formally charged when he appeared in court and was remanded out of custody to a later date.

His wife, who is reportedly a vendor at Egodini bus terminus, was approached by her father-in-law who asked her if she knew that her husband was marrying another woman and told her that he had solemnised a wedding with another woman at the magistrates’ court.

She thus went to court to verify the issue, which almost left her breathless.

The other woman is said to reside in the same neighbourhood and has had confrontations with the wife over the issue. The sad part is that neighbours and friends close to the couple claim that the women used to be friends, until the husband grew goggle eyes.

She is said to have been issued with a copy of the marriage certificate and advised to report the matter to the police.
