Sundowns league dominance continues

FORMER Highlanders and Dynamos goalkeeper Washington Arubi let in three goals as his team Pretoria University was walloped 1-3 by city rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at Tuks Stadium in Pretoria. His teammate, and former Highlanders striker Obadiah Tarumbwa was substituted late in the second half while Warriors players Khama Billiat and Cuthbert Malajila scored one goal apiece to put their team on top of the log standings.

At Mpumalanga’s Kees Taljaard Stadium, former national team defender Method Mwanjali played the full game while his country-men veteran goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro was not on the bench when his team drew 0-0 with Ajax Cape Town.

At Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium on Saturday evening two Warriors players Willard Katsande and Kingston Nkatha played in their 2-1 win over Bidvest Wits. Amakhosi goals came through the legs of Nkatha and Lehlohonolo Majoro and Wits replied through Ryan

Chapman. Wits had three Zimbabwean players in their line up, Onismor Bhasera, Tinashe Nengomasha and former Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari who was later substituted.

At Pretoria’s Lucas Moripe Stadium, former Dynamos and national team defender Kaitano Tembo and his SuperSport United won 3-1 at home against Golden Arrows.

At Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium, veteran national team goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini’s AmaZulu played to 1-1 draw against former Dynamos striker Roderick Mutuma’s Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday. Kapini was however an unused substitute.

On Friday night Maritzburg United lost 2-1 to Platinum Stars at Harry Gwala Stadium in KwaZulu Natal. Terrence Mandaza started the game but was substituted in the 85th minute.

Tarumbwa told Chronicle Sport: “At the moment we are throwing everything but luck is not on our side, but we will continue working hard until we start winning regularly. I’m happy about my performance at the team even though I was substituted.”

In the National First Division Black Leopards, home to Warriors striker Brian Abbas Amidu, drew 2-2 against Sivutsa Stars on Saturday in Nelspruit. Amidu was not in the team.

At Mpumalanga’s Puma Stadium, Witbank Spurs played to a 2-2 draw against Roses United. Former Highlanders hitman Ralph Matema was on the bench while former Young Warriors stars Peter and Patrick Mubaiwa were not in the team.
