THE Government has posted positive ratings for strides made in the country’s education sector and fighting crime, an independent survey has revealed.

Afrobarometer, an apolitical pan-African think tank made the findings through the survey which was conducted between January and February this year.

Findings of the research show that 54 percent of the country’s population was happy with successes in the education sector and combating crime.

The survey revealed that the Government posted 56 percent ratings for its efforts in solving violent crimes.

It said people were also happy that Government was championing gender equality.

Seventy one percent of those interviewed said the Government had seen to it that the playing field for women and men was level in line with global instruments.

“There are no significant gender differences by gender and location. Positive evaluation of Government’s handling of promoting opportunities and equality for women comes not as a surprise, as great strides are being taken by the Government to implement international instruments furthering women’s promotion in all spheres of life,” says Afrobarometer’s survey.

“Government also receives a pat on the back for preventing or resolving violent conflict between communities with 56 percent of adults commending it for doing fairly or very well on this aspect.”

The report adds that the citizenry also commended the Government for its efforts in improving supply of electricity since 2014.
