A suspected armed robber already on remand for a series of robberies targeting Mukuru money transfer booths nationwide, Clever Chada, appeared in court on Wednesday.
Chada, who is facing numerous charges, allegedly instructed his wife to hide three guns used in committing the crimes.
Chada, charged with unlawful possession of guns and ammunition was remanded in custody when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo.
The State was represented by Mr Innocent Bhakiri.
Prosecutor, Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe, told the court that on November 21, 2025, detectives from the CID Homicide Division in Harare received intelligence linking Chada to hidden guns.
It is alleged Chada, who had been arrested earlier in January 2025 in connection with a spate of armed robberies in and around Harare, directed his wife, Erinita Chingosho, to conceal the guns.
Chingosho, who remains at large, reportedly handed the guns to Tamari Tikiza for safekeeping, acting on Chada’s instructions.
On November 22, detectives followed up on the lead and questioned Tikiza at her residence.
During the interview, Tikiza admitted to receiving the guns from Chingosho and confessed that Chada had instructed her to hide them.
She then transferred the guns to her nephew, Shepard Maisiri, for further concealment.
Both Tikiza and Maisiri were arrested.
During their interviews, they led police to Maisiri’s garden, where a black plastic bag containing three guns was recovered. The guns included an AUT 6.5 mm pistol, a browning Spatene Depose pistol and a patented Colt pistol.
Both Tikiza and Maisiri implicated Chada as the owner of the guns and the mastermind behind the concealment.
The confiscated guns have been sent to CID Forensic Ballistics for examination as investigations continue.
