Sweswe — who signed a two-year contract with Bidvest Wits — respects the decision of Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter to rope in new players for the upcoming season as he seeks to lead the popular side to League success.
Sweswe’s departure paved way for the arrival to the club of Bafana Bafana defenders Morgan Gould and Siboniso Gaxa.
“I am not bitter with Chiefs, I have moved on,” Sweswe told KickOff.com.
“Moving to another club happens all the time in professional football.
“Look at Tinashe (Nengomasha). He had been playing at Chiefs for 13 years and he was also told he is no longer in the club’s plans,” adds the defender.
“I am now focusing on my new club and I am happy to say that things have been going on very smoothly.”
Sweswe says Wits have enough depth and experience to mount a serious challenge for the League title.
Besides Sweswe and Nengomasha, Wits have also signed former Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena as well as experienced midfielder Matthew Pattison.
“We really have a strong side. There is a mixture of youth and experience and we are going to surprise a number of teams this season,” says Sweswe. — KickOff.com
