TRICKSTERS Taekwondo Club is appealing for funding to send a team of taekwondo in to the 2024 Next Generation Swazi Tigers Championships in Manzini, Eswatini on July 6.
The event showcases the skills and talents of some of the best taekwondoin in Eswatini and other Southern African countries.There are a number of categories that the taekwondoin will compete in.
Mkhululi Sibanda of Tricksters Taekwondo Club in Bulawayo said that the Eswatini event was open to individual clubs within the region. “There will be competitors from the entire Southern Africa who willl be competing in different age-groups, there will be poomsaes and sparring,” said Sibanda.
Poomsaes, are a sequence of movements that simulate combat against multiple opponents. Each form comprises strikes, blocks, kicks and stances that reflect the principles and techniques of taekwondo.
The taekwondoin are expected from Malawi, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini, South Africa and Zimbabwe.Sibanda, a black belt holder said his club is hoping to take part in this year’s competition and is appealing to the corporate world for assistance in raising funds for the Eswatini tour.
“Due to financial constraints we might not be able to attend this prestigious competition on the Taekwondo calendar hence we appealing to well-wishers and our supporters to assist with funding,” said Sibanda.
