HERENTALS keeper, Marshal Takarinda, is relishing the opportunity of facing his former paymasters when The Students clash with Yadah in a potential thriller at Heart on Saturday.
Drawing inspiration from his uncle, Edward Sadomba, Takarinda wants to achieve more with Herentals.
The Students finished fifth in the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season and were the best performing side from Harare.
Takarinda believes Herentals have the potential to surpass that this season.
“I feel so good playing against my former team Yadah, and also it’s an advantage for us since l know their strengths and weaknesses.
“We will use that to our advantage,” said Takarinda.
The 24-year-old Takarinda has played nine games and has kept five clean sheets.
He is expected to start on Saturday when Herentals face Yadah in a Harare derby.
Herentals are currently fifth on the log with 22 points and eight behind log leaders MWOS after 14 rounds of action.
“It’s always exciting to work with a club that values your input and l am happy at Herentals,” said Takarinda.
“Our objective is to do much better than last year.
“We are working towards achieving greatness and the morale is high, our technical department is geared for the assignment against Yadah.”
Takarinda draws inspiration from his uncle, Sadomba, who played for Dynamos before becoming a household name in the CAF Champions League with Al Hilal of Sudan.
“He (Sadomba)played pivotal role in my career.
“l used to watch him play and most of the time we could do one on one sessions and this helped me to up my game,” revealed Takarinda.
Herentals face a Yadah side that has been struggling for consistency.
The Miracle Boys are fourth from bottom with just two wins in 14 outings.
“Their (Yadah) position does not matter, we will treat them with respect,” said Takarinda.
