TAKESURE Chiragwi has urged his CAPS United players to kee their feet on the ground after their perfect start to the Castle Lager Premiership campaign.
The Green Machine are the only side with a perfect record of two wins after the first two matches.
Obriel Chirinda’s powerful strike propelled Chiragwi’s men to the top of the table and they have a two-point cushion.
“We need to remain level-headed and keep improving with each match,” he said.
“It is still a long race. We will not get carried away.” The Green Machine are looking for their first championship in a decade.
They last won the league title in 2016.
Chicken Inn kept themselves in the early conversation with a 2-0 win over sTriangle United.
The Lowveld side’s next assignment is against the Green Machine.
Dynamos also remain within touching distance after sharing the spoils with Highlanders in a lively 2-2 draw. For Bosso, the wait for a first win goes on.
Benjani Mwaruwari’s side opened their campaign with a draw against Bulawayo Chiefs and followed it with another stalemate against Dynamos. Highlanders have scored three goals and conceded three in their first two outings.
Benjani said the Dynamos match stretched his men.
“We managed to score first but the game was tough,” he said.
“In the second half we had chances and some good moments. They also asked questions. There were positives for us.”
Defending champions Scottland are also still searching for their first victory.
Norman Mapeza will probably argue that his men have not lost a game, after two straight draws, and will get better as the season rumbles on.
Bulawayo Chiefs grabbed their first win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Agama FC at Wadzanayi in Shamva.
Coach John Nyikadzino praised his players.
“I am very happy with the boys’ performance. They gave everything on the pitch and showed great character,” he said.
“Getting our first three points away from home is important and I am proud of the team.”
Elsewhere Hardrock claimed a 1-0 win over ZPC Kariba while FC Platinum beat Manica Diamonds 2-0.
MWOS and TelOne shared the points in a 1-1 draw and Simba Bhora could not break down FC Hunters in a goalless match.
