TALEN Vision will today hold the inaugural top eight tournament at Mthwakazi Stadium in Filabusi Centre.
The tournament’s main objective is talent identification and giving back to the community of Filabusi.
The event will see eight teams competing for prize money of $2 000.
The participating teams are Talen Vision, The Venue, Bhekeni Celtics, Filabusi United, Unicerm, Mbembesi FC, Gwanda Delete and Farvic FC.
The tournament’s organiser, Juma Phiri, said the winners will walk away with $600 while runners-up will pocket $400. Third and fourth placed teams will both get $300. Those from position five to eight will get $100 each.
“The team that comes out tops in each group will meet in the finals which will be held same day. We will also have Talen Vision technical team playing Stars FC as the main curtain raisers of the final,” said Phiri.
He said the sponsor has a lot of interest and passion for Filabusi and Matabeleland at large, hence the choice of the venue.
“We will have lots of fundraising activities on the day and also a raffle where we have 13 original replica jerseys to be won by lucky winners. The draw for the raffle will be done at halftime of the final match,” Phiri said.
He said the idea is to strengthen the communities since a strong community with a high quality of life means safer place.
“Everyone has a skill and experience from which someone else can benefit. If we aren’t putting the talents of the youngsters to their best use in their everyday life we won’t be doing justice to the community,” said Phiri
He said the players who will participate must represent their respective communities with dedication by showcasing their talents and skills. — @DecoDecent2
