CHIKUBU Road to Fame winners Talent Falls have dedicated their groundbreaking project Kumba to Culture Fund whom they attributed their success to.
The ambitious group led by Joe Bhasera was reeling in financial crisis and staggered to stay afloat before they received a windfall from the organisation in June last year.
The Culture Fund Board has supported the Zimbabwean arts and culture sector through two broad mechanisms, a board strategic intervention to sector needs and a grants programme open to all sector actors with project proposal assessments done by a Technical Advisory Committee of Experts (TACE).
The Passada outfit was among the beneficiaries and received $4 920, in a move that re-energised their musical career.
The following year, they won the Chibuku Road to Fame provincial competitions before they came second in the more prestigious national contest.
The song Culture Fund is a thanksgiving piece of appreciation to the organisation for raising the group from the dust to fame.
Other songs on the seven-track album are Manager Moto, Mwana ndewani, Kumba, Hapana mushonga, Kasoda and Basa mangwanani. It was recorded at Gramma Records.
“They (Culture Fund) made us believe in ourselves. We saw it fit to coin a song for them.
“Releasing such an album is a dream come true. On the new album, we tackle various social issues such as betrayal, love, trust, faith and hope.
“We urge people, especially partners, to communicate in relationships and marriages so as to build a health marriage. The album will hit the streets this week but we will officially launch the album on December 13 at Courtauld Theatre,” said Bhasera.
