JAIROS TAPERA could be the next Triangle United coach.

After parting ways with South African First National Division side Black Leopards recently, Tapera is favoured to replace David ‘Yogi’ Mandigora at the south-east lowveld side.

Triangle achieved a top-four finish in 2015 under Kelvin Kaindu, but Mandigora guided them to a position 11 with 38 points, way short of their target of the season and has reportedly fallen out of favour with the club bosses.

It is understood that Tapera is in talks with Triangle but he denied any links with them.

“I am at home in Kwekwe. I am not in Triangle. I arrived from South Africa on Friday. You are not the only one to make such any inquiry.

“People are talking about it though (move to Triangle). I am not attached to any club at the moment,” said Tapera who has also coached FC Platinum juniors.

Despite Tapera denying being in talks with Triangle, sources said the former national Under-20 gaffer was last week seen in Triangle with the club  executive, an indication that he could be a candidate for the top post after the club’s dismal performance this year.

The former Young Warriors coach parted ways with Black Leopards just five months into his                                                                                                  contract.

Tapera left after their 2-3 home defeat to Stellenbosch FC, who came back from two-nil down at Thohoyandou Stadium last month.

It was Tapera’s third defeat in the league, where he won three times and played three draws.

He left Black Leopards sitting on position eight on the log table with 12 points, nine points away from log leaders Thanda Royal Zulu.

In his nine matches for the South African side, the former FC Platinum development side coach beat Santos 2-1, Milano United 4-0 and FC Cape Town 3-2 and drew 1-1 against Jomo Cosmos, 2-2 against Mthatha Bucs and 1-1 against Cape Town All-Stars.

He lost to former Chicken Inn gaffer, Joey Antipas AmaZulu 1-2, University of Pretoria 0-2 and Stellenbosch 2-3.
