Tarakinyu wins VP Mohadi’s Run for Hope Marathon

Long distance athlete Moses Tarakinyu of Black Rhinos Club has won the inaugural Vice President Kembo Mohadi’s 21 km half marathon being held along the Beitbridge- Bulawayo highway this Saturday.

He crossed the finishing line after  1 hour, 7 minutes, and  47 seconds, followed by fellow team members Tatenda Hove and Jonathan Chinyoka of Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, in second and third positions respectively.

The event is being held in the Mtetengwe area, the home village of Vice President Mohadi, in honour of his legacy.

The event also has a 10km, 5km and 3km road races.

Scores of athletes from various clubs are participating in the event.

After the half marathon, there will be a commissioning of Mtetengwe Primary School that was recently rehabilitated after the intervention of the Vice President.

Most of the infrastructure had been damaged by Cyclone Idai.
