A 28-YEAR-OLD Rusape taxi driver, Tinotenda Seda, was sentenced to five years in prison for robbery.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.
Seda of Vengere, appeared before Rusape provincial magistrate, Mr Tendai Mahwe, who handed down the sentence on Tuesday.
The court heard that Seda had robbed his victim of US$75, stabbing him and knocking out a tooth in the process — with the incident now serving as a stark reminder that crime does not pay.
Though Seda’s guilty plea was taken into account during sentencing, Mr Mahwe still deemed the offence serious enough to warrant a substantial prison term.
Mr Mahwe sentenced him to five years in jail, before suspending six months on condition of good behaviour.
A further six months were set aside on condition that he restitutes the victim — Bobby Moyo US$75, meaning he will serve four effective years.
Prosecutor, Ms Faith Mutukwa, said Moyo confronted Seda, whom he had found wearing his cap, and instead of answering where he had found it, Seda physically attacked and robbed him.
“On February 19, 2026, at about 11pm, at Mandeya Complex, in Vengere, Rusape, Moyo saw the accused wearing his cap, and asked him where he got it.
“Seda suddenly charged towards Moyo, and stabbed him with a knife once on the face. He took the complainant’s wallet containing US$75 and went away.
“Moyo sustained a cut on the face, and lost one tooth due to the accused’s violent conduct. The value stolen is US$75, and nothing was recovered,” said Ms Mutukwa.
