resident magistrate Mr Elisha Singano.
Mr Singano convicted him after a full trial.
He slapped Madzima with 24 months in prison, and suspended four months on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
The remaining 20 months were set-aside on condition he completes 700 hours of community service at Kadoma General Hospital.
In sentencing Madzima, Mr Singano noted that the testimony of girl was well constructed.
He said the girl could not have fabricated facts.
Mr Singano noted that the girl described blow by blow what transpired when the teacher lured her in the classroom.
“I am not talking to an ordinary man in the street who does not understand the word ‘child abuse’ and the irony of the matter is that the very people who are supposed to protect these vulnerable children are the very people who are promoting the monster called child abuse,” said Mr Singano, before sentencing Madzima.
Prosecutor Mr Clever Chikandiwa told the court that sometime in February, Madzima ordered all those who had not paid the teacher’s incentives to leave the classroom.
The court heard that all the pupils left the class and while they were making their way out, Madzima called the girl.
He slightly closed the door and started to fondle the girl’s breasts, resulting in her uniform button dropping on the floor.
Madzima told the terrified girl not to tell anyone what he had done to her.
He told her that he would pay the US$1 for the teachers’ incentives in exchange for what he had done to her.
The matter came to light when the girl was confronted by her aunt to explain where she had put the missing button.
Kadoma lawyer Mr Dyson Chirairo represented Madzima.
