AMIR Edwin Mhaka, the teenager who was accused of leaking Felisha Fifi Muzeya’s nude pictures, is now a FREE man after the State withdrew its charges yesterday.
Fifi is the daughter of comedienne Mai TT and had a romantic relationship with Amir.
Amir appeared before magistrate, Ruth Moyo, yesterday where the State applied to have the charges withdrawn before plea, due to lack of evidence.
This follows the letter written by Amir’s lawyers to the Police Commissioner General urging the police to widen their investigations in order to get to the bottom of the matter.
Through his lawyer Admire Rubaya, Amir claimed a lot of facts emerged since his arrest which required the police’s intervention.
Amir raised concerns that he had faced ill-treatment from the social media court of public opinion due to the popularity of Mai TT on those platforms.
He claimed he was abused by Mai TT’s followers online and was left with no choice but to engage the police with the belief that if the matter was extensively investigated, there would be a real need for the National Prosecuting Authority to reconsider its decision on whether to prosecute him or not.
Amir said he complied with a warrant of search and seizure, which required him to surrender his phone to the officer who “boasted that they had the best cyber team which could crack into any cellphone.”
However, he said he was later surprised to be called to provide a password for them to access the mobile phone in question.
He also wanted the police to seize Fifi’s phone to ascertain if there was any trace of evidence that she once sent the nudes to him as he believes that other people had access to the nudes.
