Teenage girls stab neighbour

TWO Bulawayo teenage girls recently bashed their neighbour before stabbing him on the stomach for insulting them on WhatsApp. Nonhlanhla Sibanda (19) and her 15-year-old cousin allegedly beat up the 17-year-old boy with a garden hose all over the body until he fell on the ground before they stabbed him.

The boy was referred to Mpilo Central Hospital where he was admitted.

This was revealed when the two cousins appeared before provincial magistrate Mr Willard Maphios Moyo facing assault charges.

They pleaded guilty to the charges and the passing of sentence was postponed for five years on condition that they do not commit a similar offence within that period.

Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza told the court that on the day, the boy met Sibanda and her cousin at Mayenziwe Terminus.

“The teenagers blocked the boy’s way and started accusing him of insulting them on WhatsApp. When he tried to proceed with his journey, the girls insulted him. The boy grabbed the 15-year-old girl by the collar,” Mr Mageza said.

He said the girl tried to free herself and punched the boy four times on the chin.

The court heard that Sibanda joined in the assault and hit the boy with a hose all over the body.

“While Sibanda was hitting the boy, he let go of her cousin who took a knife from her waist and stabbed him once on the stomach. Sibanda continued assaulting the boy with a hose until he fell,” Mr Mageza told the court.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Sibanda and her cousin’s arrest.
