A CHIPINGE teenager will be a guest of Chipinge Prison popularly known as KwaMandikisi for the next two years after being convicted for stealing his friend’s property.

Talent Mukwakwami (18) of Plot Number 6, St Kelvin, Chipinge pleaded guilty when he appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mr Noah Gwatidzo last Tuesday for stealing Trust Dhlumo (31)’s property.

However, Mr Gwatidzo suspended four months of the sentence on condition that he will not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

Talent will serve an effective 20 months behind bars.

Representing the State, Mr Regis Mawarire, said on August 7, at around 7pm, Dlumo, Talent and Promise Murenje proceeded to Phenias Sithole’s homestead to play a game of draft.

“At around 8pm, Talent, Trust and Promise left Phenias’ place for their homesteads and on their way, Trust opted to go to Promise’s homestead first, leaving Talent walking alone,” he said.

Mr Mawarire said Trust departed from Promise’s homestead at around 9pm for his place and upon entering the house he noticed that his property was not in order.

“The DVD player was on the floor and when he thoroughly checked for his property he noticed that his black Ecco radio, 26-watts solar panel and goldstone inverter were missing.

“He later discovered that Talent had broken into his house. He reported the matter to the police leading to his (Talent)’s arrest,” he added.
