Teenager jacks boss’s car after a drinking spree

A BOOZE-FUELLED betrayal ended in cuffs after a 17-year-old boy from Mkwasine in Chiredzi, stole a Nissan Caravan right under his drinking buddy’s nose!

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the minor was handed a suspended three-year sentence by the Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court for stealing a motor vehicle.
It all started on March 28, 2025, when the complainant’s driver left the Nissan Caravan at Mzie garage and gave the keys to a trusted security guard. The guard then passed the keys to the minor—who was just doing a casual job at the garage—for safekeeping.

But instead of keeping the keys safe, the teen pocketed them—and later pocketed the whole car!
In a shocking twist, the minor and the security guard later went out for drinks. While the beers were flowing, the young man ghosted his buddy and dashed back to the garage where he made off with the van like a seasoned thief.

The guard, returning to duty, found the vehicle gone and quickly filed a police report. Swift investigations led to the boy’s arrest and the vehicle was recovered the next day.
He may have thought it was a fast ride to freedom, but the law caught up fast!
