TWO teenagers both aged 19-years-old have appeared in court for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, while she was on her way from school.
Benjamin Ndlovu and Thabani Khumalo from Manyezi Village in Esigodini pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault and rape when they appeared Gwanda regional magistrate, Mrs Sithembiso Ndebele.
They were remanded in custody to June 5.
Prosecuting, Ms Zanele Sithole said the accused persons met the complainant on April 6 and took turns to rape her.
“On 6 April Ndlovu and Khumalo met the complainant who was coming from school. Khumalo told Ndlovu that the complainant was his girlfriend and Ndlovu also claimed that the complainant was also his girlfriend.
“Ndlovu kissed the complainant by force and caressed her thighs and breasts. He told the complainant that he loved her and wanted to have sexual intercourse with her but she refused. Ndlovu then grabbed the complainant and pushed her to the ground,” she said.
Ms Sithole said Ndlovu raped the complainant twice on the scene. She said as the complainant was wearing her clothes to leave Khumalo stopped her and raped her. Ms Sithole said after committing the offence the two accused persons allowed the complainant to leave. She said the complainant met some of her school mates who had witnessed the incident and they advised her to report the matter.
The matter was reported to the police who conducted investigations leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
