their participation in this year’s event.
Speaking at a Press conference in Harare yesterday, Telecel chief executive Mr Francis Mawindi said the sponsorship would comprise about US$32 000 in cash and other non-financial sponsorships including the use of the service provider’s bulk short massage service platform.
Telecel would be providing updates on the fair through SMS to all its subscribers.
Mr Mawindi said the agreement was meant to create a platform of co-operation between ZTA and Telecel for the successful hosting of the fair and provide business opportunities to both organisations to showcase their products to both existing and potential customers.
“Telecel will accordingly, in terms of the agreement, in addition to providing sponsorship funds, help publicise the event through bulk SMSes,” said Mr Mawindi.
“The ZTA will for its part allow Telecel to make use of the fair to publicise its products and services.”
He said Telecel was happy to be associated with the ZTA efforts to promote tourism in Zimbabwe and in the region.
“Telecel Zimbabwe is also happy to play its part in ensuring that our tourism sector grows to its fullest potential while creating the much needed employment opportunities and contributing to the national economy through tourist revenues,” he said.
Sanganai/Hlanganani is the only Zimbabwean tourism marketing exposition on the United Nations World Tourism Organisation official calendar.
