Tenax lose playmaker

PREMIER Soccer League débutantes Flame Lily completed the capture of Tenax FC play-maker Farai Mugumwa on a three-year contract while the Mutare correctional services side is on the verge of sealing a deal with former Black Rhinos assistant coach and current Mighty Warriors goalkeepers’ coach Ndega Matsika. Flame Lily, which is also a Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services outfit, got a ticket into the top-flight league after finishing top of the log table in the World Navi Northern Region Division 1.

In their last game of the Division One season, the Harare-based outfit thrashed ZRP 2-0 to win the ticket to the Promised Land.
They finished with 76 points off 34 games. Flame Lily assistant coach Maxwell Chipfuko confirmed the developments.
“We have signed Farai Mugumwa on a three-year contract and he is a good player with a bright future.

“He has impressed all of us here although he is injured at the moment and we hope he will recover before the soccer season begins,” said Chipfuko.
Mugumwa was in top form last season in the Eastern Region Division One and he was the crowd’s favourite whenever Tenax was in action at Sakubva.

The 25-year-old striker joined Chauya Chikara four seasons ago from Sicho Masachi’s La Sakubva and since then he has never looked back.
Last season he netted a total of 15 goals and was the club’s top goalscorer.

Mugumwa said that he is so happy and it is a dream come true for him to play top-flight football.
“I am very happy to join Flame Lily because it is my first time to play in the top-flight league and it is every player’s dream.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity and I am going to work hard to help the team to produce good results,” said an ecstatic Mugumwa.
However, Tenax FC have since acquired the services of former Black Rhinos assistant coach and current Mighty Warriors goalkeepers’ coach Ndega Matsika.

The former Buffaloes and Black Rhinos goalkeeper will be in charge of Tenax during the 2015 Eastern Region Division One season.
“Yes, we can confirm that we have since taken Ndega Matsika as our head coach for the 2015 Eastern Region Division One season.

“We believe in his capabilities to take us where we want to be and that is nowhere less that in the top-flight league,” said Tenax secretary Elisha Chirashanye.
